Grace for the Journey TODAY!

What a day! Today is our 24th anniversary, Beka, starts teaching 7th grade at Cuthbertson, Sarah is off to a new adventure at UNCC, Nathan is starting college at Wingate, Jon begins his Junior year at Marvin Ridge, Abby started 2nd grade at Rea View and Isaac is getting ready for pre-school.  Whew! Breathe, just breathe...

No doubt there will be a bit of stress just thinking about the schedule and lunches and transportation. But here's the thing... By God's grace, we really desire to be men and women and a family after God's own heart. That journey is an adventurous one with plenty of mountain top vistas and deep canyon trails. There is no guarantee that any of it will be easy. In fact, if we follow Christ, there is the guarantee that at least some of the journey will include suffering. In Hebrews 12, God encourages us to run with endurance the race he has set out for us. It won't look like anyone else's race. It will be a mixture of trial and great fun. God will put us in relationships that are sometimes puzzling, sometimes exhilarating, dull or chaotic. But if that's the race he has marked out for us, why would we want any other? If that is where God has us and he has promised to be with us always - to never leave us nor forsake us - then, Lord, let's go!  Father, we need your abundant grace! This is our journey today and its a good one!
